There has been quite a bit of movement in the Top 8 this month. First we have the battle for the top – Xtra_Tomatillo_Sauce was caught flat footed by Alex Dingle for the number 1 spot, as Xtra had to use his mulligan this month. I am confident, that Alex wont be left at the top without a fight though and mark my words when I say that Xtra will be gunning for him next month.
Another interesting development was Wachtmeister who scooted from 0 points to 105 in a single month. Now, he did they with just a few figures, so there’s an element of playing the rules and not the game to it I assume. That is completely fair of course.
Behind the top 8 we have Martin, Jon, Vectis, and PygmyHippo at 90-80 points, and Maddix, M4cr0dutch, Adrian Bell, and Deacon at 80-65 points. Even though it might seem far removed from Alex Dingle right now, there’s still three months left, and as Wachtmeister has shown, a lot can be accomplished in a single month.
Squares of note and Red Circus / Leopard Print Theme Round

Alex dingle and Wachtmeister both boosted their totals with the “create your own character” goals. There’s a template (which has been sent around a few times now) and at the end of the challenge I’ll collect them all in a combined PDF as a fun memorabilia. Wachtmeister created the Vanus Assassin (oh, dear God I must resist removing that V every single time) and Alex Dingle created The Veiled Synapse. If you want to read the full entries go back to the respect waves of this month (1 and 3).
Traditionally in this challenge, Month 3 has been the “red paint / leopard print” theme round. This year was of course no different. It harks back to 90s John Blanche artwork and the two in combination is in many way peak ‘over the top’ 2nd edition force, which is why it is worth celebrating with a theme round. This year 16 people have already scored a square for leopard print, and 9 of them did so in this round.

I love the creativity on display here where people have gone from tradiotional (cloth, shoulder pads) to actual tyranids with leopard print! This sort of dogma tend to force creativity. The Tyranids and the Noise marines are particularly great I think. Wachtmeister took it to an even extra level by painting his leopard print red and thereby combining the two concepts of the theme round. What a nutter! 😀
The overall scoreboard – The Race To Terra
Looking at the overall scoreboard it is clear that we have separated the field. Some people are in it, some are not. As it should be. To be fair, no one was ever asked if they wanted to partake or not. Next year, I have plans for that part as well!
